Quote of the Day
Joakim Noah on beating the Heat to sweep the season series on Sunday afternoon;
“It feels great. I was pretty amazed how, just walking on South Beach [Saturday], how many people were just like, ‘Beat the Heat, Beat the Heat’ in their own hometown. I know in Chicago, I don’t think that happens like that, so it felt pretty good.”
Noah doesn’t exactly blend in when he walks down the street and especially on the beach, which coincidentally, he has stated that if he wasn’t playing basketball he would be selling coconuts and other fruits on the beach. He did bring Florida a couple of National Championships while attending college so he’s recognizable to say the least.
However, I have no doubt that people were telling him to “beat the Heat.” Florida fans just don’t care about professional sports or are transplants from cold weather climates like New York or Chicago. That became evident when Derrick Rose heard MVP chants in the Heat’s home arena. And let’s not even talk about the amount of empty seats at that arena for even the biggest of regular season games.
